Dear Tom,

I have used amidosulfonic acid (formerly known as sulfamic acid) solution,
and I have used diluted acetic acid, to clean out partially clogged
diffusion pump coils that showed white deposits. I am guessing that the
dilution was 1:10 v/v in water, but I am not certain. I put the cleaning
solution in a big tub with an evaporative cooler circulating pump, readily
available at any hardware store in Arizona, to continuously recirculate the
solution to/from the coil(s). Presumably similar pumps are available
through McMaster Carr or other suppliers. It required typically one day to
do the cleaning.

Please let me know if I may provide further information.

Sincerely yours,
