Dear SNEAPer's,
We are looking to replace or possibly repair our Thomson 2040E
klystron on our CGR/MeV Sagittaire linac. This is an S-band klystron
operating at 8 MW. The heater filament has gone bad and this
particular model is no longer available.
I realize it's a long shot, but we are hoping to locate a used or new
2040E which is no longer in service or is no longer needed. Barring
that, we are wondering if there's any possibility of repairing these
klystrons by replacing the filament. I understand they are encased
in glass but perhaps this can be accessed and then resealed.
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Fred Bateman
