Fred,
I was heading out the door just now and saw your post. We rebuild
klystron guns and may be able to help with yours. I have not yet
researched the 2040E but it does sound like one we may have done. I
will research it more but if you have any kind of spec sheet, drawing or
even photo, that may help get me started.
Best regards,

Subject: [Sneap] replacement klystron needed for linac
Dear SNEAPer's,
We are looking to replace or possibly repair our Thomson 2040E klystron
on our CGR/MeV Sagittaire linac. This is an S-band klystron operating
at 8 MW. The heater filament has gone bad and this particular model is
no longer available.
I realize it's a long shot, but we are hoping to locate a used or new
2040E which is no longer in service or is no longer needed. Barring
that, we are wondering if there's any possibility of repairing these
klystrons by replacing the filament. I understand they are encased in
glass but perhaps this can be accessed and then resealed.
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Fred Bateman
