My 2006-2007 Alfa Aesar catalog lists "Stock #00133 Gold foil, 0.025mm (0.001in) thick, Premion (R), 99.985% 
(metals basis), 25x25mm for $70.10, 50x50mm for $207.00"

If you need higher purity than 99.985% you may have to roll your own foil from wire stock.

I am looking to buy some gold foil, ideally 99.999% (or better) 
purity, 0.025mm thick or thereabouts, and area a few square inches, 
depending on the price. So far all I have come up with is Goodfellow 
Metals and American Elements. Any other suggestions or comments would 
be gratefully received.
