[Sneap] Duoplasmatron filaments

    Yes and no.  We have used Tungsten wire but I have no personal
experience with it. Perhaps Paul Carter can
respond.  We did however, recently try a ³Dispenser Cathode² made by
Heatwave labs (www.cathode.com).  These are supposed to provide prodigious
currents and last thousands of hours.  We ran it for a while in our
Duoplasmatron but it was removed while trouble shooting other problems and
has not been tried again.    Again, Paul can better comment on it¹s
performance.
This is the data on this cathode.
Model 101033 Directly Heated Dispenser Cathode

    

    * Ø1/2" Coil
    * 40A electron current CW
    * 60A pulsed electron current
    * Plasma applications
    * 7.5 turns, Type 31180
    * 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and custom diameter coils available

filament in a Duoplasmatron source?
