[Sneap] Resistor strings needed

I think carbon composition resistors are no longer made in the USA. You might still be able to import some from Asia, Eastern Europe, or South America though. There is a lot of "like new" surplus stock out there too. A lot of these are "mil-spec" parts in hermetically sealed packages with inflated prices, but there is some loose stock available too. If you get lucky, a few hundred or a few thousand devices on paper strips (for machine loading) may turn up. A good price would be about fifty cents each.

The next time I get downtown I will check Mendelson's stock of 6.2 Meg and 22 Meg 2-watt carbon comps for you. How many of each value do you need?

When we refurbished our Tandetron a few years ago, I bought (and used) all the stock they had at that time, but more may have arrived since then. We were able to completely re-build all of our strings. I measured the value of every resistor and replaced any that was more than five percent out of tolerance, as well as several that were just plain crispy-fried. You might also try searching the Internet. I found this page, but their prices are a bit steep:

You may have better luck somewhere else.
