[Sneap] Resistor strings needed

Ovidiu,
I am not familiar with the types of resistors you are using but it
sounds like they are similar to the very old HVEC stick resistors that used
2 Watt carbon composition resistor inside a long phenolic tube. These were
very poor resistors and we replaced those in our KN with the HVEC ³Blue²
stick resistors which were very stable. In our FN, we did away with the
original HVEC resistor assemblies and built new ones based on a design at
LLNL and Penn. We purchased and installed Caddock type MG resistors and
these performed well although we did find that they were prone to spark
damage and had to replace a lot of them. We changed to EBG type SSX
resistors and these have been essentially failure free. I would look into
designing new resistor assemblies based on these modern high voltage
resistors. It takes some effort and expense but the payoff is huge.
Regards,
- Chris

Greetings!

We have serviced our General Ionex accelerator and we have many resistors
that are failing (mainly because of age)
Does anyone have any resistor strings that were pulled out from a HVEE
machine and could give/sell some to us?
We mainly need 140 MOhm strings (23 resistors each 6.2) and 506 MOhm (23
resistors each 22 MOhm). O¹Brien Scientific can give us some but not enough
(The resistors are rated 2 W).
A source of such new resistors could also be valuable information for us.

Thank you,

Ovidiu
