Chris-
Could you post the following:

Does anyone know the minimum distance the carriage of the HE end of an
EN tandem needs to be rolled out to get adequate access to remove the
collumn? The tank+carriage is like 40' and the tracks are 20' each, and
the wheels are 3' from the end of the HE carriage. This would indicate
that when the HE carriage is moved to its extreme on the track, that the
HE end would stick out 3' from the end of the track. My question then
is whether one actually needs to extend the HE carrage this far to
execute a major repair, and if not what is that distance?

Our new Ion Beam Lab project at Sandia is moving along again, and I need
this info to set the length of the tandem vault. I want to have a
permanent shield wall at the HE end of the machine, so it must be placed
somewhere after the track, and that is what I am trying to determine.
Space is a premium and I would like this wall as close to the tandem as
possible, but still provide enough room to execute the removal of a
column, just in case.
