Brian,

For years we have always made our own joints for our control rods. Our
acrylic rods
are 1.5" in diameter. We jig them in a mill and cut the joint on both
piece's at 15
degrees. This makes the joint approximately 6.5" long which maximizes
the surface area
for strength at the glued joint. The acrylic glue that's been used is
acrylic glue
weld-on #3. The only lengths that I have found are 6 foot. Two
suppliers that you might
try are Cope Plastics and McMaster Carr.

Good Luck

only supply in lengths up to 96 inches.
