Dear Sneaper:
Please see the CAARI announcement below. Also, we would like more industrial-accelerator sessions at the meeting, and I was wondering if one or more of you would be willing to chair a session (or sessions) on "Industrial Applications" in the Accelerator Technology Topic Area, or some other session title, i dont care. The I in CAARI is industry after all!

The organizers would like to welcome you to the 20th International Conference on the Application of Accelerators in Research and Industry. This conference is being hosted by the University of North Texas and Sandia National Laboratories. The Conference Co-chairs and Topic Editors are working closely with the Session Chairs to develop sessions and obtain speakers that compliment what CAARI is all about.
The abstract submission is now open on the following topics:
Accelerator Technology
Atomic Physics
Education
Focused Ion Beams
Ion Beam Analysis
Ion Beam Modifications
Medical Applications
National and Homeland Security
Nano-Scale Fabrication
Nuclear-Based Analysis and Studies
Nuclear Physics
PIXE
Radiation Effects
In order to submit an abstract you will need to create your account and register for the conference. Don't forget to reserve your hotel room early - we sold out last year!
The Proceedings of CAARI-2008 will be published by Elsevier as a special issue of Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research B (NIMB).
As with previous meetings in this series, the conference will comprise a mixture of plenary, invited review, invited technical, contributed talks and poster presentations. Sessions will run for five (5) full days as we have added three new topics this year.
We have established a Conference Assistant Opportunity for graduate students this year. Graduate students who are interested in assisting in the sessions during CAARI 2008 are encouraged to apply for a Conference Assistant position. CAARI Assistants are a very important aspect to the Sessions and assist the Chairs with their session needs. By assisting for a minimum of four (4) half-day sessions, students will receive a complimentary student registration, a complimentary hotel room shared with another conference attendee (only if not from the local area) and an opportunity to choose the session to assist. If you have a student(s) in your organization who would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please direct them to the web site and the application, under the Registration tab.
Also, this year we will be giving awards for the best posters; one poster, that is considered the best quality and best presented, will be chosen in each of the four (4) poster sessions. We are also planning a conference outing on Monday evening and a banquet on Thursday. So when you register, be sure to check the box that you are attending the conference outing and the banquet. The Closing Ceremony will be held on Friday at 4 PM and include food and beverage. Check out the web site at www.caari.com<http://www.caari.com/> for more information on this and other events at CAARI this year, and just click Registration at the top of the page to start the registration/account creation process.
We hope that all of you enjoy this conference, and find it intellectually stimulating. If there is anything we can do to make your conference experience and stay in Fort Worth, Texas more enjoyable, just ask us: Del, Barney, Margaret and Karen. (hall at unt.edu or kfsloan at sandia.gov) .
