[Sneap] Unattended operation of accelerators [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Hi David,
We have been running our 3MV Tandetron in automatic mode overnight and
weekends for ~18 years without many problems. The key has been to make
sure that the system falls back to a safe standby mode in case of
failure. That means that occasionally the data acquisition will stop and
sit there until the operator comes in to fix what's wrong. Our operating
system is Windows XP with LabVIEW and a mix of GPIB and Group-3
fiber-optics I/O, so nothing special there. I'll be happy to give you
