Hello,

We have a system similar to the second one that Chris listed. Our bore
is much smaller than 4" however. It is spring loaded. Compressed is
used to open the valve, which is then mechanically locked. An explosive
squib is used to "unlock" the valve and the spring closes it. A high
voltage is connected to automotive spark plugs installed some tens of
yards from the valve. When a vacuum accident occurs, the spark plug
will fire and the current through the circuit ignites the squib.

The control electronics also has test fire capability.

Regards,

Powell
