Mr. Stoner,
At the Center for Irradiation of Materials at Alabama A&M University we do
provide analytical services (RBS included) to the industry for (still)
$200/hr in groups of 8 hrs. What's the foil thickness and what are you
looking for?
Best,
Claudiu

Dear SNEAP:
I am looking for a commercial source for RBS analyses of thin foils. Any
suggestions?
Sincerely yours,

Andy,
An appraiser would calculate worth in two ways, replacement value and how
much someone else would be willing to pay for such a device.
Many of these accelerators have been junked or given away for the cost of
moving them, by institutions around the World over the past couple of
decades
By this definition; not much
For replacement value - if you cannot find one that someone is trying to get
rid of, using current technology, conforming to current safety regulations,
$500k-$750.
This is a somewhat educated guess as the company I work for builds similar
devices for the High Power Microwave community.
Hope this helps,
Ray Thomas

Subject: [Sneap] a money question
Hi all,
I have an odd question. We have an early '70's vintage HVE 400 kV
accelerator, and for some ominous reason my Dean wants to know what it's
worth. My first inclination is to say a bazillion dollars, but that's just
me. I doubt you could buy such a thing anymore, but if you could, what
might you expect to pay? I'd guess that sort of $100-$300k might be
appropriate.
Anyone have any thoughts? Otherwise I'll go with one bazillion.
