Problems in transmission through 180 degree folding magnet in the terminalArun,
The Oxford Folded Tandem had a 180 degree magnet in the terminal with beam crossover at the 90 degree point. The magnet box was formed by the soft iron poles of the magnet and semi-toroidal stainless steel tubes welded to them. Some early cracking of these welds was cured by replacing the tubes with ones of increased wall thickness. Subsequently the magnet performed well. Transmission was high and magnet stability adequate. The tandem was described in the proceedings of the Strasbourg Conference (Rev. phys. Appl., 12, 1977, 1331) and subsequent Electrostatic Accelerator and Sneap meetings.
What is your problem? Where is the most complete description of your machine?
