[Sneap] Sample Positioners

We have a couple of different sample positioning systems made by AML in England. Their linear translators have a typical 1 um resolution out of the box. We have one multi axis system with several rotations and two translations, with 0.001 degree resolution typical on the rotations. Their website is http://www.arunmicro.com/, and they are represented in the US by VTS - http://www.vacuumtechnical.com/. At the time we purchased our components they were pretty amenable to custom design, for a price. Some of the other guys in my group have multi axis positioners from Newport and ( http://www.newport.com/globalhome.aspx and http://www.raith.com/ ) but I don't have details on resolutions. I've also purchased a rotary stage from National Aperture ( http://www.nationalaperture.com/ ), but I haven't had a chance to set it up yet. All of these manufacturers design for in-vacuum use.

I hope this is useful.

Best regards,
Stuart Van Deusen

Subject: [Sneap] Sample Positioners

The host for the 2008 SNEAP annual meeting is the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. The meeting dates are: October: 12 - 17, 2008.

Hi all.

I am searching for reliable sample micro/nano-postioner suppliers for a potential nuclear microprobe that will hold the ion beam fixed while moving (and potentially rotating) the sample. This is still in the preliminary planning stages so the specific parameters for the positioner are not yet decided.

As always, thanks for your input in advance.

Respectfully,
