[Sneap] SF6 information

At the 25URC in Oak Ridge, we generally have about 220,000 pounds of
pure SF6 in the tank while we are running. We have an exhaust fan at
the bottom of the tank which would exhaust the SF6 at the top of the
tower (~150 feet above ground level). This fan would have to be started
manually and to my knowledge has never been run. We do have oxygen
monitors (Alpha Omega series 1000) at four strategic places in the
building and on both floors of our gas storage building. The monitors
are set up so that they give an alarm in the control room when the
oxygen level drops to 19.5%. When the oxygen level drops to 16.5%,
horns go off to evacuate the building and the ORNL fire department
rushes over in their gear. This 16.5% level also triggers roof fans in
the gas storage building and near the gas dryers in the accelerator
building.
