[Sneap] Neutron doses at Tandems with deuteron beams ?

Dear SNEAPers,

here at PTB-Braunschweig/Germany we have a 35-year-old KN-3750
Van de Graaff, which is well-maintained and still runs quite good.
However, we have to start thinking about replacement and upgrade.

We are currently considering a 3 MV or higher Tandem in the same vault,
but the wall at LE-end would have to be reduced or replaced.
Because we have to run deuteron beams for the production of neutron
fields,
we are now concerned about neutron production in/at the stripper canal and

the resulting neutron doses at the LE-end.
We realize that these will depend on the amount of deuterons already
implanted
in the stripper structures and on back scattering from the walls around
the accelerator.
We would wellcome any available data or experiences for neutron production

with deuteron beams in a Tandem.

Thanks in advance and best wishes for a pleasant meeting in Ann Arbor !

Cheers,

Uli.
