[Sneap] Machining Zircaloy

 In general, zirconium alloys machine easily with sharp carbide tools. There is a fire hazard when machining zirconium which increases when the cuttings are finer. You should observe the following precautions:

-clean up the swarf after each cut, particularly on fine cuts that will generate small particles,
-dispose of cuttings in a sealed metal container under oil,
-use plenty of cutting fluid,
-keep a dry powder-type fire extinguisher handy.

	My machine shop has asked me to ask the SNEAP community if anyone has  
any experience machining
Zircaloy?  They have been unable to find any information on tooling,  
turning speeds, etc.
