You probably know it, but anyway I want to emphasize that MOVs have a
limited energy absorbance capacitance, which is accumulative. This is, once
the total energy absorbed by the MOV (either in one big transient or several
smaller ones) exceeds their design limit, they will fail. This means if you
use MOVs as transient protection you will have add them to your list of
routine maintenance parts.
