[Sneap] Coating CsI Crystal

Dear John

I don't have the crystal in hand yet but my understanding is that there will not be any coating.

That is why I am concerned about cleaning. I am worried that if the surface is dirty the Al will start to peel off.

Dannie

Dear SNEAP:

CsI is very deliquescent - it absorbs water when exposed to air. Does your
crystal have a coating to prevent this? Coating with aluminum is an
entirely different problem in the two cases: with or without such a
protective coating.
