Thanks for the information.Several of those responding to ourrequest have said do not use boron nitride,A quartz sleve is much better.Do you have an openion.Thanks again Jerry Duggan

I used to machine simple parts from pressed boron nitride material which I used to get from Union Carbide.  The stuff is soft, but can be machined into  fairly intricate shapes.  I just did a quick web search and it appears the BN part of Union Carbide is now Advanced Ceramics Corp.

A product data sheet can be downloaded from that web page.  The HBC or HBT grades are probably what you want for something the size of a ion source canal.
